Goldfarb Center Seat Campaign Launches

July 10, 2024

MACOMB, IL - - Are you ready to leave your legacy in the Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts? The ֱ Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) is excited to announce the launch of the GCPA Take Your Seat Theatre Seat Campaign, an exciting opportunity for individuals to have a permanent impact on WIU’s newest campus facility.

Starting Wednesday, July 10, supporters can name seats in the Great Hall, the 875-seat proscenium theatre space and main facility in the new center. Seats are available for $250 each and will be customized with an inscription selected by the purchaser. Plaques will be permanently installed on the backs of seats, offering a consistent reminder of the donor’s generosity.

“The Theatre Seat Campaign is a wonderful way for Leathernecks everywhere to make their mark on the Goldfarb Center,” COFAC Dean Billy Clow said. “Donors can choose to honor a family member, remember a beloved instructor, or even gift a seat for the person who has everything.”

While the options of who or what to commemorate with a seat are unlimited, the seats in the Great Hall are not. Interested individuals should move quickly to secure their seats. Naming rights for Great Hall seats can be purchased .

“The impact of these naming rights extend far beyond the seats themselves,” COFAC Director of Development Mick Cumbie said. “Proceeds from the Take Your Seat Campaign will go into the GCPA operational endowment to provide funds for the operation and programming of the Goldfarb Center. By naming seats, donors are providing permanent financial support for the Goldfarb Center.”

The Great Hall will see a lot of foot traffic when the GCPA opens. The Great Hall will be home to multiple Department of Theatre & Dance productions, School of Music concerts, Bureau of Cultural Affairs events and other University programming, as well as outside performances annually.

The Goldfarb Center, the first state-funded building at WIU since the 1970s, will provide academic and performance opportunities that match the excellence of ֱ's academic units. The 100,000-square-foot building will include two theatres, rehearsal studios, a
gallery lobby, classrooms and offices. The LEED Certified Silver, $119-million center is scheduled to open by the end of 2025. Learn more about the GCPA wiu.edu/cofac/gcpa/index.php.
