Student Organizations and Honor Societies

As a student at WIU in the College of Business and Technology (CBT), you have numerous opportunities to get involved. These opportunities will help you meet other students in your major and you’ll get a chance to see some really terrific guest speakers. In addition, you’ll develop relationships with enormous networking benefits. The possibilities are endless! Really!

Student Organizations register with the Office of Student Activities to ensure they are recognized by the University and can receive important resources that help ensure the success of their organizations. Every active student organization is required to re-register on Leatherneck Link every Spring. This ensures officer and advisor information, organization constitutions, and other important information about the organization is regularly updated. View detailed registration information.

Tips & Guidelines

  • Be sure to keep your organization in good standing with Student Activities.There are many benefits to working with Student Activities and registering your organization. Check it out! They’re a great group of people and can help you in so many ways!
  • Promote your organization via the OSA Activities Fair. This is a terrific way to get the word out about your organization and what you do.
  • Set programming goals and work to develop the potential of all members. Visit the Office of Student Engagement to get involved.

  • CBT Student Organization Council (SOC)

    The Student Organization Council is a student advisory council made up of the presidents and vice-presidents from CBT college and department organizations. This group meets twice a semester.

  • Society of Accountancy (SOA) QC Campus

    The Society of Accountancy (SOA) prepares its members to meet the upcoming challenges of pursuing an accounting or business career. It explores the accounting profession with a focus on newly created fields. The society offers interesting speakers, interactive meetings, and community service. The SOA sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program each spring.

  • Computer Science Association

    The CSA is a student chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery. The group provides a social environment for anyone who wishes to learn more about working as a team to accomplish self-defined goals. Collaborate in project development and management to further members knowledge and experience in all facets of computer science.

  • Academic Club for Engineering (ACE): QC Campus

    The purpose of the Academic Club of Engineering (ACE) is to enhance each members’ educational experience by providing academic resources, hands-on experience and community service opportunities. Furthermore, the club will strive to represent and promote the Engineering Department at WIU-QC by hosting and participating in local engineering related activities.

  • Marketing Club

    The WIU Marketing Club is an organization designed to give marketing students an opportunity to further enhance their college experience through extracurricular activity within their major field of study, though non-majors are encouraged to join as well. Our organization provides students with the opportunity to explore the practical applications of marketing management, advertising, promotion, and public relations. The club works to arrange guest speaker presentations, career workshops, as well as social and fundraising events. Additionally, members also have the chance to attend various career forums and marketing conferences each year.

    We are the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois Ag. Mech. Club. The group hosts the Farm Machinery Show held in ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Hall every Spring, which is the largest student run show in the United States.

    Alpha Zeta is an honorary, professional fraternity for students studying agriculture or natural resources and dedicated to academic excellence, leadership, integrity and service. To be invited to join Alpha Zeta students must have sophomore or above standing and be in the top 40% academically within their college or School of Agriculture. Graduate and transfer students are eligible.

  • Collegiate Farm Bureau

    The Collegiate Farm Bureau engages students in educational, leadership and networking opportunities while connecting students with the Illinois Farm Bureau. Become a member of the WIU chapter and you'll interact with other students, community leaders, government officials, and more! You will have the unique opportunity to attend the Illinois Farm Bureau's annual meeting, Collegiate Discussion Meets, and Young Leaders Conference. You will also gain all of the benefits that a Farm Bureau member receives.

    The Collegiate FFA Chapter at ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University works to serve high school agricultural programs in the State of Illinois. We promote scholarship, leadership and service, as well as maintaining a high ethical standard as a prerequisite upon entering a professional agricultural career.

    The name of this organization shall be the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University Forestry Club (WIU FC). The WIU FC is a student organization at ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University. This organization’s purpose shall be to educate the students at ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University about the proper planting, care and removal of trees and the safe practices required to administer tree care services.

  • Hoof-N-Horn Club

    The Hoof N Horn Club promotes closer relationships among students interested in livestock and animal science. We are a group of around 40, with most members being agriculture majors. The Hoof N Horn club focuses on promoting the agricultural industry as a whole.

  • Horticulture Club

    The ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University Horticulture Club's purpose shall be to educate students about horticulture and provide an opportunity for members to share their passion, knowledge and experiences in horticulture. The club provides interested students extracurricular activities in horticulture including: hands-on experiences, out-of-classroom education, guest speakers, greenhouse work, work within the community, National Collegiate Landscape Competition, field trips, and monthly social events.

  • Livestock Judging

    Represents WIU at state and national livestock judging contests in the Senior College Division. It welcomes students interested in expanding their knowledge of livestock, evaluating livestock, developing communication skills, and competing on the superior level of national competition. WIU team-members strive for team awards, as well as individual accomplishments.
